CURRENT VACANCY : Transport Supervisor A Dar es Salaam based transportation and logistics company, is looking to recruit a highly motivated, hardworking and bright individual to work as Transport supervisor. Location: Dar es Salaam Duties: 1. Ensure full and effective employment of heavy vehicle drivers and machinery operators in a safe manner; 2. Arrange all necessary transport and equipment requirements to efficiently satisfy operational demand; 3. Organize efficient transportation of materials both to/from Dar es Salaam (or other locations) as well as within Mtwara 4. Ensure that complete job, task and journey details are recorded for analysis and statistical data with special focus on tonnage and mileage; 5. Compile journey management plans to ensure that all journeys or trips undertaken are controlled and managed in compliance with Governmental, MUFA and base procedures and regulations; 6. Ensure that all drivers and operators follow correct protocol 7. Coordination with all related departments for smooth and effective transport operations; 8. Make sure all materials have got all necessary documentation before being loaded/offloaded or transferred. Check availability of appropriate documentation for chemicals, etc. 9. Ensure sufficient manpower is available at all times to maintain predetermined manning levels; 10. Conduct Tool Box Talks, pre-job discussions, risk assessments and complete permit to work, as necessary, for work carried out by heavy goods vehicle drivers. 11. Conduct regular Base walkabouts. Monitor working conditions and try to prevent any unsafe situations. 12.Participate in “Stop System” and conduct regular Advanced Safety Audits, ensure compliance with MUFA rules, Safe Systems of Work and Operating Procedures. Check that all personnel wear appropriate PPE 13. Maintain Housekeeping Standards by involving all available personnel both at Supply Base and Quayside 14. Ensure that all drivers and operators are fully trained and competent to undertake their job function and that all certification, permits and licenses are valid Education: University Graduate, Secondary education Experience requirements: At least 4yrs working experience, good verbal communication especially with clients, ability to manage a team of 40 people Good command of English and Swahili.
