CUTC is proud to announce our 2015 Season! We will start it off with a signature event celebrating CUTC and the presentation of the Ginny awards. At the Hilton Garden Inn January 31 2015 - Save the date! Our 10th Annual Kathy Murphy Student Production will be Gilbert and Sullivans The Pirates of Penzance. One of the most beloved operettas of all time, audiences will love this hilarious show with unforgettable music by Arthur Sullivan and lyrics by the king of frat humor, William Gilbert. This updated version, based off of the New York Shakespeare Festival version, follows young Frederic, an orphan who has mistakenly been apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates. He disavows the pirates way of life and falls for the beautiful Mabel. Frederic’s melodious tones win over the heart of Mabel, but when the Pirate King discovers General Stanley has lied about being an orphan to keep the pirates from stealing all of his belongings and carrying off his bevy of beautiful daughters, an “ingenious paradox” may prevent the budding romance and lead to the death of The very model of a modern Major-General.” - Music Theatre International. Performances will be in June 2015 Our Summer Show will be in August 2015 and will be none other than the Frank Loesser classic, Guys and Dolls. Considered by many to be the greatest musical comedy ever written, Guys and Dolls features an immortal score, wonderful dancing, raucous comedy. Set in Damon Runyons mythical New York City, gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that theyve been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough, but Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. - Music Theatre International The season will wrap up with a Murder Mystery Event in October.
