CVRJ death rule suicide A Central Virginia Regional Jail inmate’s Dec. 20 death, the second at the lockup in less than five months, has been ruled a suicide by the state medical examiner. Jail staff found Jerry Wayne Bright Jr., 37, of Orange, unresponsive inside his cell shortly before 2 p.m., state police said. He hanged himself, the medical examiner found. Authorities jailed Bright on Dec. 13 on charges he robbed an Orange home. State police investigators are investigating the death. Shawn Christopher Berry, 37, died Aug. 9 at the same jail from the adverse effects of heroin and ethanol, or what a doctor not tied to the case described as heroin withdrawal. State police determined that death to be an accident. ---- Daily Progress report
