Cabell County 4-H Club Built 1936 - The Work Projects - TopicsExpress

Cabell County 4-H Club Built 1936 - The Work Projects Administration (sometimes called the WPA) provided temporary employment for eight million Americans who constructed or repaired schools, hospitals and other projects. Toward the end of the Great Depression, over one hundred men and women of the Barboursville district got work through the WPA. The toil and sweat of this temporary workforce resulted in some of the area’s most durable and enduring architecture. Native stone buildings were erected through the Work Projects Administration, including the 4-H building across the Davis Creek Bridge in 1936, built along with a campground for the youth of the county with help from the Farm Bureau and county teachers.
