Cairo Update: copied this from one of my pages. 450 arrested per Interior Minister, 3 dead in Cairo, 2 dead in Giza, 2 dead in Minya, at least 47 injured. There was very little news coverage of all the clashes today, but there were many things going on. Even in my neighborhood, I went to Starbucks and Ramy called me and told me to come home , because he heard gunshots. On my way home (i live two blocks from Starbucks) Ramy told me a man was shot next to the corner store next to my house. I am surrounded by main streets in my area and the clashes were taking place on the main streets, but I guess the gunshot guy spilled over into our neighborhood. There are big parties and celebrations also on tv. It is pretty surreal. One of my designers came also to my house, and she told me yes there was trouble outside but she was only slightly worried that they would bother her, since they have no reason to. Tahrir is full with celebrations, and there have been no clashes in Tahrir, but there have in the surrounding areas of Tahrir. BUT NOW>>>> Ramy just went out and he says there is nothing in the streets and they are having a big Party in Mohandessin, and I hear music from the Cafe (club) downstairs.. Its fine, and not a problem. I think the numbers are incredibly low from what we thought might happen. I also took Kino walking at 4:30 and it was quiet. ;)
