Cairo drama.......so check this out. I just got off the phone with Khaireyya Mazin one of the women from the original Ghawazee dancers (the Mazin Family) . I sent her number to someone that I got from Sahra C Kent for a girl to take class. Well the girl told me last night she found her in Luxor and had class with her and sent me a picture. BUT>>>>> another friend of mine also went to Luxor looking for her and they told her she was remarried and retired and no longer teaching and they took her to another woman (i wont name names) and said she was the cousin of Khaireyya Mazin and she also has the last name Mazin. So I asked Khaireyya if this is her cousin and she said its not and she is not married and still dancing and teaching. That is some drama!! She said that they hate her and are not wanting her to have students anymore. So if you want Khaireyyas number contact me or Sahra. I feel bad for Khaireyya I had heard about this story before and I just confirmed it. She is still in Luxor and still teaching. Hopefully I can convince her to teach for Cairobellydance to preserve the tradtional dance with one of the oldest known dancers of Ghawazee.
