Calamba Medical Center hosts “Senior Citizens’ Week” with free medical services CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Jan. 27 (PNA) -- Celebrating its 25 years of service “At the Core of Health,” the Calamba City Medical Center (CMC) began on Monday morning its “Senior Citizens Week” observance with free medical services to the elderly at the CMC lobby area, Crossing in this city. The four-day series of medical activities from Jan. 27 to 30 has adopted this year’s theme “Respect for Senior Citizens: A Generation to Remember and Celebrate.” In an interview with PNA here, Anna Marie C. Fajardo, CMC Out-Patient Department (OPD) Manager said the medical institution hosted the free consultations starting 8 a.m. on Monday. The CMC also administered the RBS blood sugar examination for the first 50 patients and the ECG for the first 30 patients. On Jan. 28, the CMC will conduct the free eye check-up and give away free reading eye glasses for the first 50 patients. The medical center will also conduct on Tuesday free consultations on rehabilitation medicine and sponsor lectures and exercises. The CMC has been the medical partner of the city’s Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) headed by Ernesto “Boy” Aquino. Calamba City Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco has endorsed the tie-up with the OSCA to the medical center for the medical and hospital services for the poor elderly constituents here. Fajardo revealed that the city government continues to provide financial assistance and referrals for the city’s senior citizens pursuant to the memorandum of agreement forged by the LGU and the CMC. She also said that as one of the celebration highlights, the CMC will sponsor the Senior Citizens Talent Show on Jan. 29 and a Bingo Bonanza with Senior Citizens on Jan.30.
