Caleb has many different types of seizures. The most common types - TopicsExpress

Caleb has many different types of seizures. The most common types he has are called myoclonic seizures, or drop seizures. Theyre very quick and he can usually rebound from them almost immediately. He also has tonic-clonic seizures, also known as grand mal seizures. He usually only has them in his sleep, mostly at 4-5AM. They last anywhere from 1-5 minutes long and the recovery time is longer, about 30 minutes, where all he does is sleep. Lately hes been having these during the days, about 1-3 a day for the last 2 weeks. (None today yet, knock on wood! ) Today has been a particularly tough day. Hes been having several myoclonic seizures. I started counting this evening when I was able to sit down with him during Kysons nap. In one hour, he had 30. As were sitting on the couch right now, theyre increasing, maybe because hes getting tired? Its tough, I cant let him get up or hell fall. He loses his balance in the few seconds he seizes. I wish I knew how to stop this. But for now well sit here watching Nemo, one of his favorite movies. And tomorrow Ill be calling the Dr, again. Hoping hell be able to increase the output on his VNS. I just took this video, its 60 second long. He has 7 seizures in that space of time. ♡ Love my little man.
