Caleb saw the grass snake on the internet and called to make sure I hadnt turned him loose. Too late, I had put him on the tomato trees to help keep the bugs off. I had thought about keeping him for a while because he was actually quite beautiful. Knowing he would probably get sick and die, I just didnt think it was right to keep him. Ive had wild things and tried to make pets of them. WILD THINGs need to be Wild, theres just no other way thats right. Anyway Caleb was a little disappointed but he got over it quick. He can still remember the big ol black Snake we caught a couple years ago. Im still trying to find the pictures he had a big lump in him, Im assuming it was a rat. I held him up and had our pictures taken, me Caleb and Mr. Black Snake and then we set him free to do his job. He was over 5 feet long easily. Ive got an old picture of my oldest son John with his Grampa and a rattle snake over 6 foot long taken by Buck Erwin up on Little River They killed two that big within a week. Ive got the proof, but its a really old News Paper clipping. But dont take a bet on it he wasnt that long, cause Ill win. grin attt Biggest rattler snake I ever killed was 5 foot 6 inches and I almost stepped on him before I saw him. I was 15 years Old. I have the proof on him too. Grin. Two years ago Im sure I broke a law in Colorado when I killed a Green Rattle snake out there. RATTLE Snakes, Copper heads and Cotton Mouths I dont tolerate! To mean and nasty, can cause loss of limbs fingers and life. A fellow at Clayton had a pet Rattler in his beer Joint a few years ago. When he went to catch him it got him twice, he died before he got to Ft. Smith Ark. We got Snakes in the mountains !! grin If you dont believe me go by the Antlers Public Library and see what happens to real snake handlers (not on like me cause I dont touch rattlers unless theyre DEAD) They had pictures of a local snake handler and his swollen arms from different snake bites. He was Killed by a local kid one deer season. The guy had on Red but he was wearing a White T-Shirt. NEVER Wear any white in Deer Season, itll getcha killed. Some of the yearly hunters get trigger happy. OK enough BS tonight hope someone besides me enjoyed this ramblin but if not I had a really good time Rememberin anyway. ATTT
