Calendula in Bristol. Not native, but naturalised? I would say so. I am forever seeing what are probably escapee populations flowering throughout the year, and also, if it is mild enough through the winter, year after year. Not bad for an annual!? This all-year-round flowering may very well be the origins of its name (From the modern Latin - Calandae) Other reports sugest it was named after its uses in helping the menstrual cycle. I especially love the curved seeds, some are shaped like sea horses!
