Future Islands - Seasons (Waiting on You): I believe I was on a message board where someone posted the video of this band performing on Letterman with the caption This guy is tripping me out and with good cause. He is the weirdest lead singer of a band, maybe ever: with his receding hairline, t-shirt tucked into his pants and absolutely insanely bizarre dance moves. I watched the video, laughed a lot, then showed it to whomever was around and laughed again, then found myself repeating the song back. So I watched it again, and again, and again. And suddenly I was like a teenager again: putting the song on repeat, looking up every live version of the song I could find, learning the lyrics, and listening to it on headphones with the volume turned up and holding the headphones against my head trying to make it a little bit louder as if I could push the music directly into my brain if I tried a little bit harder and have it playing endlessly in my head forever. I think I listened to it (the single version and two live versions I downloaded) 46 times over the first weekend after Id heard it. The song is just incredible, the lyrics are great, and the singers voice is just sublime. If you only listen to one song off my list, it should be this one. https://youtube/watch?v=-5Ae-LhMIG0
