California Governor, Jerry Brown, signed a state-wide plastic bag - TopicsExpress

California Governor, Jerry Brown, signed a state-wide plastic bag ban, also known as SB270 - purely a political move as it runs counter to scientific and health facts. Studies show that the average 2-person household takes home 16 disposable plastic bag every week and 90% of those bags are re-used for trash and other purposes which greatly reduces the number and mass of specialty bags being added to the combined waste stream. Nonetheless, Jerry Brown and the rest of the idiots who were elected by imbeciles saw fit to ban the plastic bags in favor of reusable shopping bags. Even the most conservative estimates based on using two reusable bags once per week to replace the 16 disposable plastic bags - over one years time youre ADDING 1450 pounds to the combined waste stream and consuming and ADDITIONAL 308 gallons of potable water ... compare that to adding less than 22 pounds to the combined waste stream if you just used 16 disposable plastic bags per week and didnt even bother to re-purpose them for anything else.
