California Trail Interpretive Center receives 100 percent visitor satisfaction ELKO, Nev. – In a recent survey conducted this summer by the University of Idaho, the California Trail Interpretive Center received a 100 percent visitor satisfaction rating. This rating applied to the overall satisfaction with appropriate facilities, services, and recreational experience. The survey was conducted to comply with the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) and to better meet the needs of the public. Surveys were conducted at 24 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recreation sites in 13 states during fiscal year 2013. The Survey was developed to measure each site’s performance related to BLM GPRA Goal 3.1 – ‘Provide for a quality recreation experience, including access, and enjoyment of natural and cultural resources on DOI managed and partnered lands and waters.’ The information collected in the survey will also help the BLM better serve the public. The high level of visitor satisfaction at the California Trail Center is not only a testament to the quality of exhibits but is also attributable, perhaps even more importantly, to the high level of customer service provided by our front desk staff, most of whom are volunteers and interns said Trail Center manager Gary Koy, It is the dedication of our interns and volunteers that allows us to provide that extra level of service that is so appreciated by our visitors. The California Trail Interpretive Center has been open to the public, full-time, since June 2012. “The California Trail Interpretive Center is a shining example of what can be accomplished when we work cooperatively,” said Jill Silvey, Elko District Manager. “The dedicated staff, coupled with the strong community support, is what makes any visit to the Center such an enjoyable experience. We take great pride in providing a quality experience to the visitors of our public lands and their facilities.” The California Trail Interpretive Center is eight miles west of Elko on I-80, Hunter exit 292. The Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Visit blm.gov/cv5c or call (775) 738-1849 for more information. -BLM-
