Call For National Action on Coastal and Harbor Infrastructure - TopicsExpress

Call For National Action on Coastal and Harbor Infrastructure Needs: Was pleased to have helped organize a day-long symposium at the JFK Library this past Tuesday that called upon the federal government to act in supporting coastal infrastructure needs to address the threat of sea level rise and regularly occurring coastal storms. This first ever, national symposium brought together leaders from New Orleans, New York City, San Francisco, Norfolk, VA., Miami, FLA, and Boston, as well as representatives from the Ambassador from the Netherlands, and, of course, Marshfield and Scituate! At this symposium we discussed ways that cities are adapting for sea level rise and more frequent, serious storms. The main thesis of the day: we need a coordinated, federal response to the combined threats of sea level rise, coastal storms, and aging infrastructure that will be on the scale of JFKs challenge to marshal resources for the space program or Eisenhowers commitment to creating a federal highway system. enterprisenews/answerbook/pembroke/x919105772/Dire-picture-of-sea-level-rise-presented-at-Boston-conference
