Call for Applications: Facebook Open Academy Programme Facebook officially launched the Facebook Open Academy Program (https://facebook/OpenAcademyProgram). Since 2 years ago, SoC has been invited to take part in this programme. In the upcoming offering, 6 SoC students will be selected and sponsored for a trip to Facebook from 30 Jan to 1 Feb 2015 at Facebook HQ, Menlo Park to attend this programme. For the duration of the semester (AY2014/2015, Sem 2), the students will participate in global Open Source projects under the mentorship of renown open source developers and they will be enrolled under CP3101A for 4 MCs. Applications are now open. Since the demand for this programme is likely to be high and there are only a limited number of places, interested students are to send a personal statement to Dr Ben Leong ([email protected]) arguing why they should be picked for this programme and submit their latest resumes and transcripts. They should also secure the recommendation of a CS professor. This is a high-level programming module and evidence of programming skills is a pre-requisite. Depending on the applications, it is possible that there might also be a selection interview. The application deadline is 30 Nov 2014. The students who are successful in their application will be informed by early December. Selected students must be available to travel to Facebook between 30 Jan to 1 Feb 2015.
