Call for National Board Declarations Deadline is Wednesday night, December 31 Unlike many organizations, ASMP does not use a process of nominating candidates for office. Rather, any Professional Member (formerly called General Member) or Life Member in good standing may declare his or her candidacy for ASMP national board service. To declare, just go to the Nomination Guidelines page on the ASMP web site to get the PDF Declaration Form. You may submit it by fax or email. To be valid, it must be received in the national office before December 31 at midnight. A total of four directors will be elected for three-year terms. New directors will begin their term at the next regular board meeting following their election, expected to be in June 2014. The purpose of the board of directors is to represent the membership’s interests in setting performance standards and expectations for the Society — focusing primarily on its producing impacts and results conducive to members’ professional success, and ensuring prudent management of the Society’s business. Directors do not represent a specific constituency, but rather are elected to serve diligently on behalf of the entire membership. In addition to attending three in-person meetings per year, directors serve on various study groups and committees formed to address issues of importance to the industry and the Society.
