Call for Papers International Conference On South Asian Literary Traditions (ICSALT) VENUE: Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan DATE: April 10-11, 2015 THEME: South Asian Literary Traditions Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature of the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan, is organizing an international conference on “South Asian Literary Traditions” and invites scholars from academic institutions, teachers and researchers who are interested, involved or have conducted research on languages, literatures and cultures of South Asia, to submit an abstract and join us in this event. This interdisciplinary conference invites presenters from all the continents to share their knowledge and findings based on their work in their area of expertise. This conference is envisaged to become a platform for presenters to exchange ideas on different aspects of South Asian literary traditions and the culture of this region. Following are the subthemes of ICSALT 2015: 1. Female voices in South Asian literature. 2. The influence of linguistic politics on regional languages and their literatures in South Asia. 3. Common themes in literature of various South Asian languages. 4. Exploring the ‘other’ in the South Asian literary tradition. 5. Twentieth century metaphors in South Asian literature. 6. Impact of cinema on South Asian languages. 7. Discourses on the regional self in South Asia. 8. The spiritual experience in South Asian literature. 9. Humanism in South Asian Literature. 10. Any other relevant sub-theme TYPE OF PRESENTATION Oral presentation of 20 minutes in English or Urdu. IMPORTANT DATES: Last date of abstract submission: 15th January 2015 Acceptance date: 27th January 2015 Last date of submission of Full Paper: 15th March 2015 TRAVEL AND OTHER ARRANGEMENTS Due to budgetary constraints, the Gurmani Centre (LUMS) shall not be able to pay for the ticket or travel charges to the scholars coming to the conference. However, in case of confirmation of participation by a scholar upon approval of his/her abstract, stay at the university executive centre or at a good hotel in Lahore (only for the conference days) and local hospitality shall be provided.
