Call for Proposals for the Art Plinth: Richmond, BC (Visit link) Art Plinth, a City of Richmond Public Art program represents an exciting opportunity for artists to experiment with temporary interventions in the public realm. The art works will be installed on the last supporting column of the Canada Line guideway at Richmond-Brighouse train station, highly visible to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Artworks will be installed for a minimum of six (6) months to a maximum of twelve (12) months. The Art Plinth program offers the City an opportunity to develop a dedicated site for temporary public artwork. While the art works may serve as a place marker, they could also serve to question and anticipate future uses of the plinth site at this Canada Line station. Similar programs have been implemented locally through the Canada Line public art program, OFFSITE in Vancouver and internationally with the Fourth Plinth in London, UK. Suggested budgets of $25,000 to $50,000 per project are available to the artist or artist team. Five (5) to eight (8) projects will be commissioned over a five year period, with a total budget of $200,000 for all projects, all inclusive, with the first installation to be installed in winter of 2014. Deadline for submissions of proposals is on Monday, October 7, 2013.
