Call for award nominees! Do you know someone that has made a difference in your community? Well, Hull’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Nadine Fudge would like to hear from you as she calls for nominations for the first annual ‘Lord Mayor and Admiral of the Humber Award’ (courtesy title Honorary Burgess). The title will be awarded to a Hull citizen past or present, in recognition of an outstanding achievement or contribution they have made to the city of Hull. The Lord Mayor and Admiral of the Humber Award is a new accolade and will be presented by Hull City Council at a ceremony this summer. According to the criteria, nominees must have ‘brought distinction to and enhanced the City’s reputation in the area or activity concerned’. They must also be a citizen, or former citizen, of Kingston upon Hull. Lord Mayor, Councillor Nadine Fudge said: “We are looking for citizens that have shown outstanding work and commitment to our great city. This may be through voluntary or charity work, or through some activity that has benefitted the residents of Hull”. “I would like to invite nominations from a range of backgrounds of any age and am looking forward to reading everything we receive”. Once the application stage has closed, the Lord Mayor will personally consider and scrutinise all nominations. Shortlisted applications will then be submitted to the Hull City Council Civic Committee to determine a winner. The successful nominee and applicant will then be invited to join the Lord Mayor for Afternoon Tea in the Parlour at the Guildhall where the Lord Mayor will present the winner with a certificate and badge. Residents can nominate a person by completing an application form and returning it with attached details and evidence as to the reasoning for the nomination. Evidence can be anything from CVs to press cuttings. The closing date for applications is Friday 19 July. Application forms are available to download from hullcc.gov.uk or can be sent through the post by contacting the Civic Office on 01482 300 300 or [email protected]. ENDS
