Call for nominations: the Student Peace Prize 2015 The International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT) invites its International Ambassadors to nominate candidates for the Student Peace Prize 2015. Since 1999, the Student Peace Prize has been a way to support students who are doing important work to promote peace, human rights and democracy. To this day, eight students and student organizations from Burma, East Timor, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Western Sahara, Croatia and Iran have received the prize. The founders of the Student Peace Prize felt strongly that students fighting for peace were often overlooked by the media and the establishment. Therefore, they wanted to find a way to highlight the role of students in peace processes worldwide and to further encourage idealism among students. The laureate receives NOK 50 000 (£5000/$8000) and will be invited to Norway to receive the prize. The Prize is awarded on behalf of all students in Norway, while an independent Student Peace Prize Committee makes the selection. Only students can be nominated, but anyone can nominate candidates.
