Call for return to democracy Nasik Swami Monday, March 17, 2014 FIJI needs to return to democracy. The message has been reiterated by the Peoples Democratic Party Suva branch president, Shamal Singh. In his address at the branchs fundraiser on Friday, Mr Singh said Fijians should not vote for race-based politics. We need to return our beloved nation to the hands of our people, to the youths and our farmers, our market vendors and our fishermen — the people who are out at sea for days trying to feed their families and send their children to school, he said. Mr Singh said Fijians should vote for social justice. The widening of inequality is the greatest threat to our economy and democracy. We have to pin down this threat before it swallows the reserves of dignity, security of justice and sustainability of prosperity for the sake of the future of our children and theirs.
