Call for submission on the POLITICAL PARTIES INTEGRITY BILL 2014.- the Political Parties Integrity Bill 2014 is again brought before the Bills and Legislation Committee in Parliament for inquiry before it is tabled in Parliament this coming Parliament meeting. Hence, Bills and Legislation Committee has openly call for submission on this Bill. See more information about this below: BILLS AND LEGISLATION COMMITTEE NATIONAL PARLIAMENT OF SOLOMON ISLANDS Date: 28 March 2014 INQUIRY INTO THE POLITICAL PARTIES INTEGRITY BILL 2014. Call for Submissions The Solomon Islands National Parliamentary Bills and Legislation Committee is calling for written submissions from individuals, groups and organizations who wish to express their views, knowledge or experiences in regards to the Political Parties Integrity Bill 2014 that is now before the National Parliament. The Committee hopes to collect these submissions as evidences of the inquiry into the Bill and present them in a report to the National Parliament. The Bills and Legislation Committee is established under section 71 of the National Parliament Standing Order. One of its important function as stipulated under that Standing Order is to review all draft legislation prepared for introduction into Parliament and make a written report to each meeting of the Parliament containing the observations and recommendations arising from the Committees deliberations. The closing date for submissions is at the close of business 2nd April 2014. Copies of the bills can be accessed under “what’s new in parliament” on the National Parliament website (parliament.gov.sb) or through request to the Committee Secretary. Submissions are confidential until they are made public by the Committee, which might occur during the inquiry or when the report is tabled in Parliament at the end of the inquiry. The evidences compiled in the presented report are also guarded under Parliamentary privileges. This means no one, including the author, may distribute the submissions unless it is authorized by the Committee. If your submission contains information you do not wish to be made public, please be sure to clearly mark it ‘CONFIDENTIAL’. The Committee will consider all requests for confidentiality, but is not obliged to grant a submission confidential status if it determines that it is not in the public interest to do so. Any submission should state either it is from an individual or representing an organization and address to the Chairman Bills and Legislation Committee. Mention in the submission if you or organization wants to appear before the Committee. When writing your submission the following can be used as a guideline: • Put a summary of what you want to say at the beginning • Be clear at the beginning if you support or disagree with the Bill • Say why you support or disagree with the Bill • Stick to the issue or issues. Talk about your points one at a time.
