Call me a heathen, but was Dimebag Darrell really *that* great of a guitarist? Everyone seems to put him up there with Hendrix and Van Halen as far as being influential, but...uh...really? Pantera wasnt the greatest band of all time, and the bands they influenced were mostly garbage: are the heaps of praise mostly stemmed from the legacy of a popular musician who reached legacy capacity by dying before his time? I honestly expected his guitarwork to be more creative and inspirational when I first got into Pantera, and to this day Ive yet to hear anything that puts him up there.
