Call of Ramadan 1434 AH, 2013 AD(English translation from the original Arabic) Believers in God, the One, the Merciful, the All-Love for humanity, reject the bloody battle and fierce ongoing conflict between Sunni Muslims, People of the Sunnah and the Community, and Shiite Muslims, supporters of the People of the House of the Prophet, which together form the one Umma of Islam.Conflicts stretching from Pakistan to Lebanon and from Iran to Yemen as well as religious conflicts taking place from Egypt to the Maghreb and into the Sahara, with the enormous and irreparable losses they cause on a moral, human and material level, disfigure the face of Islam and harm its reputation of nation of peace, Ummat as-salam.In this context, Syria has become one of the main battlefields, thereby diverting the course of the revolution initiated by its people more than two years ago for freedom, dignity and democracy for Syrians of all stripes against a regime which, for more than forty years, has subjected the entire population to the reign of torture, intimidation, brainwashing and leader worship.The Syrian people can hardly abandon their revolution after the tremendous sacrifices it cost them, and they will not give up the fight, regardless of the mighty and equivocal intrusions, both regional and international, in the tragic civil war.In Iran and Israel, in Russia and the countries of the Atlantic Alliance, there are some who think that the Syrian drama is useful for their own geopolitical interests - a dangerous and morally wrong miscalculation.Thank God, there are many who believe what humanity loses in Syria is a loss for all men, and who are willing to support with their money, presence and commitment the establishment of civil peace in the land of Sham, the salvage of the revolution by the Syrian people and the achievement of its objectives.In reality, the conflict in Syria does not oppose Sunnis and Shiites, but rather those who believe that God created humans in their mothers as free beings so that they may know and love one another and those who consider life but an arena where power is conquered on the basis of rivalries and particular interests.Therefore Ramadan this year involves not only Muslims, but all people of goodwill and upright intention, so that they may seek the good of their brother man, deeply respecting his religious values and symbols.In spiritual solidarity, a large number of Christians, Jews and other persons from different countries will participate in various ways in the holy month of Ramadan, insistently interceding with the Merciful and Almighty that He may give the Muslim Umma the grace of unity and harmony, because of the impact this would have on the safety and security of the world.Many worldwide will invite around Iftar tables their Muslim neighbors, Sunnis and Shiites together, to realize this desire for fraternity, starting from the level of a single village, each according to his abilities.Let us all stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters prisoners, hostages and refugees, with the crowd of those who are suffering, mourning or were harmed, and with the unshakable who demand freedom, justice, equality and the right to a life in dignity, transparency and truth. Let us also be united in refusing the logic of conspiracy, hidden policies and corrupting mafia.The holy month of Ramadan is the month of repentance to God and asking forgiveness from our human brothers and sisters. We pray for the grace of repentance for all, and while complying with the respect due to justice and rights, we pray for the criminals, the unjust and the lost, for they disfigured their humanity even before that of their victims.
