Calla had a concert last night. We started with the Pledge in to the greatest song ever, Americas song, they played a lot of Patriotic songs.... I loved it! Then we got to the end and I was waiting to talk to the Principal. I needed to ask her what we need to do to get all of the records for our kids as we get set to move to Japan. I over hear her conversation with a lady and a man. They are asking her why she didnt say her announcements in both English and Spanish, the Principals response: A. I dont speak Spanish and B. We teach English at this school. This response surprised both me and these two parents. They were visibly upset and walked away. The parents spoke very broken English. But... was this wrong? I am just curious what you all think..? I get it, this is America, speak Americaaaaan. We have a large Laotian, and Chinese student body, so, shouldnt the Principal have said her announcements in Spanish, Laotian, Mandarian, and Arabic...hmmm????
