Callander Callander is the main town in the Trossachs region, - TopicsExpress

Callander Callander is the main town in the Trossachs region, situated on the A84 heading northwest from Stirling. St. Kessog’s Church, which now houses the Rob Roy and the Trossachs Visitor Centre, was the old parish church. Built in 1868 it partially occupies the site of the old castle. On the southern side of the town are the Callander Meadows, on the banks of the River Teith, which is formed by the Garbh Uisge, or River Leny, joining the Eas Gobhain here. Towards the eastern end is an artificial, circular mound, about 120ft round at its base, with a level top known as Tomnachessaig. This was probably created in memory of Tom MacChessaig, or St. Kessog. An annual fair, Feill MacChessaig, was held until the beginning of the twentieth century. On the northern side of the town are the Callander Crags. These offer woodland walks and views of the surrounding area. In the 1960s Callander was used as the fictional village of Tannochbrae in the TV series Dr Finlays Casebook.
