Called By God - Devotional by Raul Ries I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, Ephesians 4:1 Look at how Paul began Chapter 4 of Ephesians. Paul was a prisoner of Rome, but he did not recognize the Roman authority. He was a prisoner of Christ. God was in charge of his life and no one allowed him to be in prison but the Lord. While in jail, Paul was exhorting the church. He was exhorting you and me, to walk worthy of the calling in which God called you and called me. It is a calling by God. When we give our lives to the Lord, we no longer walk according to our plans but according to the call of God. He is the One is control of my life. God has called each one of us to be a child of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord and our Savior. We are not common people. We are the children of the Lord. We are the light of the world. We are a light sitting on top of a hill for everybody to see (Matthew 5:14). We are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). Do not take your calling as a child of God, lightly. Look at who you are as a child of God. I am a Christian. I am a child of the King. I am a warrior for Jesus Christ. I stand for Him. I sit for Him. I walk for Him. Paul knew who he was in Christ — a prisoner. He knew the culture, and he studied under Gamaliel, one of the greatest Jewish teachers. He knew the great Greek philosophers: Socrates and Aristotle, and yet, he wrote these letters to the churches so simply. Here we are, almost 2,000 years later reading Paul’s exhortation, to walk worthy of the call God. Refuse nothing to God. Francois Fenelon-
