Called Dan Brown, who works now at Melinda Katzs office of the Queens Borough President. Had a great discussion about the current and future status of the site. Hes going to see what he can do about getting us a copy of the deed (he might be able to scare one up; no promises of course). I am also pleased to pass along the news that in 2015 HHC & NYCEDC will be issuing an RFP for the use of the site. They are going to do something with it. And, of course, community input is a standard part of the RFP process. No details when exactly that will happen, or how it will roll out, but its definitely something to keep our eye on. So this is the perfect time to formulate what we want, to make sure that the Rockaways wishes are embodied in whatever plans are enacted. So, what do you want, Rockaway? And also, who else needs to be part of this discussion so that the communitys interests are best met and their voices heard?
