Called or Chosen Pt.3 Church Hopping vs. Evangelism The majority of Ministries in America (Goldsboro, NC) included are not actively engaged in Evangelism but are receiving Christians who are simply hopping from one ministry to the other. Surveys show that as much as 85 percent of church membership growth is made up of people who church-hop. Other surveys show that there has been no real growth in church membership in recent years; increase in some denominations is simply offset by decrease in others. (sermoncentral) As an Apostle or Pastor have your ministry experienced ministry growth or have you just adopted members from other ministries? If you have adopted other ministry members then you have not truly being doing ministry. The scripture says And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:23 Church hopping does not mean that your ministry is growing! It simply means that your ministry has adopted other ministry members by taking on the responsibilities of feeding someone elses members. These are not individuals that were birth in your ministry or as a result of evangelism. Lets calculate and see what growth you have really had in your ministry in the last 10 years. If you have 50 members and 85% of them have joined your ministry from another ministry then according to statistical facts you truly have only 7.5 members in 10 years. (WOW) Do you own calculation according to the number of members you currently have, whether its less or more than 50. Are you called or are you chosen? If youre just called to be a minister then you will have more success helping out an Apostle or Pastor that is truly chosen for that work. God is not going to reward you for your disobedience in holding the role of an Apostle or Pastor when he never gave you that gift. It says, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. Ephesians 4:8,11 Not only are there sins of commission but also sins of omission. Have your ministry Fathered people in the gospel by seeing people saved as a result of your ministry whether through people coming to your ministry or evangelism. Paul said, For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 1 Corinthians 4:15 Someone may say, brother why do you write such things? Because when the church is out of place it not only hurts Christians that are under these ministries but it hurts the church overall. Many that are Pastoring see it as a job or a way to make money to pay their bills or foot their lifestyle, but I repeat from a former post If you are Pastoring primarily because you need a job, save all of us a lot of grief and go get a job outside the church. Youll probably make more money and the collateral spiritual damage will be greatly reduced. (The website Attempts at Honesty). Saints stop church hopping and get involved in a ministry where God has chosen and gifted a man or woman to stand in the office of an Apostle or Pastor. Dont just become a member but get involved in the ministry, do something, the ministry needs you. If youre just going to the ministry then youre not an asset only a liability. The 5 fold ministry is there to perfect you, for the work of the ministry. Ephesians 4:12 Saints lets get involved and busy in the house of God if you are a member. How would you like for someone to come into your house but refuse to do anything in the house. They will not take out the trash, make up their bed, clean up behind themselves, be involved in household duties, etc..., You would be ready to put them out, well God will not put you out but youre not being an asset to help assist the ministry that you are a part of. This is just my 2 cents worth!
