Called to have the mind of Christ … Lk. 14: 12 - 14 … November 3rd 2014. In todays gospel Jesus brings to our mind as to whom to invite for any celebration. He is straight forward in His approach of inviting guests. Moreover, Jesus invites each of us to be different and become other- oriented in our outlook towards life and people of all walks of life. Keeping in mind the gospel passage, to be a true Christian, Jesus seem to invite us to imbibe and invite us to possess Christ-like attitudes and vision in life. In the plan of Jesus everybody is included and He wants us to follow His agenda in our life and be compassionate to the last, the lost and the under privileged of the society. In His kingdom and glory, there is place for everyone where no one is excluded. The poor should be respected and helped to realize their human dignity in all its entirety. Nevertheless, our service to the poor and the needy will make a difference in the way we will be judged on the last day. Our small acts of love and concern for the others will show through us that Jesus is on the side of the poor as He Himself freely chose to become poor (2 Cor. 8: 9) and so we too are asked to be mindful of the poor (Gal. 2: 10) and have a preferential option for the poor (CCC 15 8). Let us have the mind of Christ which is operating within us and thereby make a difference in the lives of others as well as ourselves.
