Callie and I at Boston’s Forum Restaurant, where she has worked her way through school. Without warning on a bright, beautiful Boston day, their building and their lives were shattered by a senseless act of terror. She and her co-workers showed enormous courage and strength that day as tablecloths turned in to tourniquets and serving became attending to the wounded. That courage and strength has joined with resilience and fortitude as they have all pushed forward, rebuilding their lives and their workplace with stubborn tenacity. It is that resolve I especially commend, for it will prove that the goal of terror will not be achieved, for we refuse to bend or weaken in the face of indefensible acts of destruction. As the first Boston Marathon since that day nears, our thoughts and prayers go out to all.
