Calling All Momrades: A Request for Mamaraderie Its 7:45pm, friends, and Im getting ready to leave work and head home in time to put my babies to bed. Its been a long day a work, and a good one. No one wiped their face on me here, I never once had to remove someone elses snot from my boob, and my desk is IMMACULATE, you guys. PRISINE. Like HEAVEN. On the downside, no little bodies crawled in my lap for snuggles and not one person whispered, I love you, Mama. You smell like the sun. So pffttt. It just gets me to thinking about all the HARD WORK work-outside-the-home moms do, which, in turn, makes me think about all the HARD WORK work-at-home moms do. (Cause ALL the moms are working moms, whether were at home or paid for outside employment... can I get an AMEN?) We see a lot of stuff online that makes us think sometimes there are lines drawn in the sand between the mamas. But I hear a lot of mamas saying nice things about our momrades. Even - sometimes especially - about mamas who do things differently than us. And a lot of us straddle the line, popping in and out of paid-work from time to time. Dabbling, as it were, on both sides of the beach. So I just thought it might be nice to give a shout-out to our fellow mamas tonight. A more specific, targeted wave-in-the-dark. The work-at-home mamas waving to the work-outside-it moms and vice versa. Something kind. Something encouraging. Something that says, You work hard, and I SEE you. Will you join me? Ill go first. Dear Mamas Who Stayed Home Today, you are RAD. You are AWESOME. You are stronger and more patient than you know. I know your babies cant always say Thank You for everything you do for them, so Ill say it on their behalf today. THANK YOU for all the gross, gorgeous things you do.
