Calling All My Pilates People, and All of You who want to know more about the reasons for doing Pelvic Floor exercises in class. This is something I posted a few weeks ago, and I hope it is useful in conjunction with the actual exercises we do in class. The pelvic floor muscles consist of 5 muscles (and several layers) that work together, in a sling-like fashion, and basically keep our gut inside us. As we mature, as result of strains in the pelvic/lumbar region, as a result of pregnancy, childbirth, prolapses, operations (like hysterectomy, prostatectomy) etc, the pelvic floor may become weakened. We may suffer incontinence, and it may become difficult to maintain control while sneezing, coughing, laughing (and running to the bus with a full bladder!), and so doing specific exercises can really benefit you. Being in-tune with your pelvic floor muscles also have other very important... So keep them toned! If you are unsure, need more information, further explanations please talk to me before, or after class, or inbox me here. Have a great week and see you in class soon, Aggie en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelvic_floor
