Calling all cat mums and dads.. Someone here on this page (who obviously doesnt know me) called me cruel for keeping Mr Brulee and Pumpkin, my two fur-children kitties, inside the house at night.. what is the general consensus please? But before you cast your vote, let me add that I live in a very built-up area.. I DO NOT LIVE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE.. Here are roads everywhere, busy roads, Im in suburbia right next to a very busy road. I have a beautifully clean litter bin inside and so much food laid out for my fur-children.. They can go outside in the morning and frolic outside all day in the little garden here, they come and go, inside and outside at will, all day.. but at night I keep them inside. Why? Because Ive lost 3 cats over 25 years by letting them out to roam at night.. When they go out its quiet and the roads are fairly empty, but when they try to come home in the morning and cross busy high traffic roads full of people rushing to work they cant cross the streets.. but they try.. boom.. dead.. So now I keep my kitties inside at night. They can roam around the house at night, at will, sleep in a variety of beds laid out for them, or they can sleep on the two kitty beds on my bed.. which they choose to do because they LOVE to be near their mummy.. me.. Downstairs there is food, water and a CLEAN litter bin they have freedom to vist at will. OK, so, general consensus please.. Am I cruel for keeping my cats in at night so they are safe and dont get run over???
