Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale is my church, and here is where I - TopicsExpress

Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale is my church, and here is where I stand: The last 2 days have been difficult for everyone involved. I am a part of the Hospitality Team & serve at the Saturday 7pm service, and heard rumors about this for a day or 2 before it happened. But I must commend the church on the way it was handled. Yesterday, there was a family meeting called at the church at 4:30 and we were all informed in a very compassionate and biblical way, that he is stepping down. I had heard a day or 2 ago that this was a possibility, but was in denial until I heard it from the podium. Lots of heartache. He is going to concentrate on healing and restoring his family. We need to pull together now more than ever and pray for Bob, his family, our pastors (who will rotate weekly), and mostly, for the church body. We will recover and come away stronger, and I hope to see Pastor Bob back up in front of us again one day. Meanwhile, I did cry my eyes out. God forgives, but of course there are consequences. MANY people are all up in arms about the fact that his teachings, videos, & all other media have been taken down. People are angry that CCFL is trying to erase all of the good that he did. After all, he started this ministry close to 30 years ago & thousands & thousands of people have been introduced to The Word of God through him & his unique style of relating the Bible to all of us. BUT, as I posted yesterday, I think the amazing group of pastors at our church are trying to protect him, because there are so many people out there who love to gloat when one of Gods messengers falls, that they would-wait, just saw that CCFL said it themselves, better than I could: While we navigate this season of - well wrapping our brains around how to move forward, we took steps to protect Pastor Bob from those that would mis-use his content and use it to parody him during a time that his family and him need to heal (weve already seen malicious use of his photos and vicious rumor mongering in other corners of the Internet). SO lets trust our leaders & pray for everyone I mentioned above--ESPECIALLY the new and/or marginal believers who may be tempted to stop coming to church. God is still on the throne
