Cam.pain, Day 8: The early reviews are in, and some are unimpressed with what they have found here, so far. Yeah, were still ten months from election day, and some of my detractors have already reached the inevitable conclusion that Im not smooth enough or sleek enough or even savvy enough to pull off this mayor thing. Well, Friends-- all 511 of you-- I am new to this process, and Im trying to keep it loose, even if it is a bit messy. Not only am I trying to lay out ideas on how to cope with the towns most pressing problems, Im giving you a peek behind the process as I do it. This is my idea of TRANSPARENCY: Im telling you where I go and who I see and what is said. And if elected, the first thing Im gonna do is remove the door to the mayors office, install a video camera to record every single conversation held in that office, and tape record every telephone conversation, to be filed at the Bull Street Library weekly, for your review. Ill show you a transparency the likes youve never seen before. To those who have certain expectations and demands of me, youre gonna hafta give me more than eight days to rise to them. Youll continue to get a daily dose. After ten months, then and only then are you entitled to vote your conscience on my ability.
