Cambodia Economic News: Japan to Invest $100M in Siem Reap Tourism The Japanese government has pledged $100 million toward developing Siem Reap City’s tourism services to attract more international visitors, the provincial governor said yesterday. Governor Khim Bunsong said the money would go to developing a 174-hectare plot of land in Slarkram commune and will be spent on various things including a museum, a cultural village and Tonle Sap’s myriad of fish species exhibition. He added that the Japanese plan to power their development using solar power rather than electricity and the work begin sometime in 2014, generating more than 3,000 jobs.
