Cambodia on track to attract 8 mln foreign tourists by 2020: PM 2014-02-19 CambodiaNews Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Tuesday that the country is likely to receive up to 8 million foreign visitors by 2020. We are on track to achieving the target of welcoming 8 million inbound tourists per annum by 2020, the premier said during the launching ceremony of a five-year Trade Integration Strategy at the capitals Peace Palace. The premiers optimistic forecast came after the country greeted some 4.2 million inbound tourists last year, an increase of 17 percent compared to 3.6 million in a year earlier. Tourism sector generates around $2.5 billion in revenues last year, he said. Largest sources of tourists to Cambodia are Vietnam, China, South Korea, Laos and Thailand, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The Southeast Asian nation has two world heritage sites. One is the 12th century Angkor Wat Temple in northwestern Siem Reap province and the other is the 11th century Preah Vihear Temple in northwestern Preah Vihear province. Besides, it has a pristine coastline, which is one of the World s Most Beautiful Bays. It stretches in the length of 450 km in four southwestern provinces of Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep. Tourism is one of the four key sectors supporting the economy.
