Cambodia will host the World Heritage Youth Forum from June 9 to 16 in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh under the theme “Living Heritage: Temple, Environment and People.” The event takes place in conjunction with the 37th Session of the World Heritage Committee to be hosted and chaired by the Cambodian Government in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap from June 16 to 27, according to a press release from the Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the Council of Ministers issued this afternoon. Twenty Cambodian youth delegates and 18 international youth delegates from 16 different countries will be attending the week-long forum in Siem Reap city and Phnom Penh, it indicated. In Siem Reap, youth delegates will have an opportunity to present their own national heritage to the forum and discuss with distinguished experts, as well as visit various sites in Angkor Park, said the press release, adding that the youth delegates will present a Youth Declaration to all delegates of the 37th Session of the World Heritage Committee at the Opening Ceremony on June 16 in Phnom Penh. Organized by the Working Group of Youth Forum and Youth Volunteers for the 37th Session of the World Heritage Committee, in collaboration with Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, Cambodian National Commission for UNESCO, and APSARA Authority, the World Heritage Youth Forum aims at raising awareness amongst youth delegates and all youths of their role in conservation and protection of national and world heritages as well as of the symbiosis relationship between temple, environment and the surrounding community, the press release pointed out. The forum will also be a platform for experience sharing, recognition and appreciation of cultural diversity, whereby universal value of the world heritage is observed.
