Came across a lady single-handedly telling off three watchmen in a park for trying to beat a dog away with sticks. Stepped in to help in case they turned nasty. They didnt. I just stood by her, told the watchmen to watch it, offered to help her lodge a complaint. She seemed grateful for the support. Stepping out, she said its probably because the main guy was a Muslim, and obviously I must know what theyre like with animals. At that very moment the watchman came out to apologise again, presumably because he heard police in our conversation. I asked him his name (yes, he was a Muslim) and told him that his behaviour was giving the rest of us a bad name. The woman was mortified and started apologising, saying she didnt mean me. I said I knew that. But one needs to be careful that the worst in others doesnt bring out the worst in us. I gave her my coordinates in case she needed further help. We parted as friends.
