CameroonPostline -- The South African High Commission in collaboration with MTN Foundation recently donated gifts to orphans and officials of a Yaounde-based humanitarian centre known as Centre d’Accueil Eau. The gesture was part of activities to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday on July 18. During the donation ceremony which took place at the premises of the centre, South African High Commissioner to Cameroon, Zenele Makina, handed over gifts such as mattresses, foodstuff and didactic materials. “It might not be much but it represents our heart and the heart of Nelson Mandela,” she said. Addressing the orphans, she said that she and Mandela hail from humble backgrounds like them. She then called on participants to develop a forgiving spirit, noting that Mandela is considered a hero not because he was particularly strong but because he knew how to forgive.
