Camp Bana Kuma-Project Earth will begin on June 18th at 2:00 PM at Harmony Park and will end on June 20th as Project Earth begins. We will meet and camp around the back of the main stage. The days will be filled with learning the music, dance, drumming, singing and wisdom behind the Bana Kuma. We will have a nightly camp fire in which we will share the rich stories and mythology of the Bana Kuma as well as informal jams. Our goal is to create 4-6 pieces to perform for Project Earth. Each piece will be based on one of the 12 archetypes of the Bana Kuma. You can find out more about these archetypes by visiting Banakuma.org. Each archetype represents a universal truth that we bring to life with music, dance and art. Our performance will also include masquerades in which one or more people will dress like the archetype in mask and or costume and dance the archetype to life. If you have a special desire to embody one of the archetypes please let us know. Our performance will not only be a performance but a ceremony and a universal prayer with music and dance. Sound strange??..... Its not, thousands of cultures have done it for thousands of years. We are just bringing back this ancient tradition to life in a new way. If you already have tickets to Project earth the fee is $50. If you do not have tickets to Project Earth the cost is $132 and includes your entry into the festival. Space is limited and it is first come first serve. The best way to secure your spot is to deposit the full amount into paypal. You may do this by looking up paypal online and depositing either $50 or $132 into the account titled banafest@gmail. Yes it sounds like it is an e-mail address and it is but it is also the account we are using at paypal. If you are unable to use the paypal method you may send a check to 1291 Willow Ln SW, Rochester MN 55902. If you are unable to do either of these please contact us first instead of assuming you will be able to show up and have a space. You will be responsible for all of your own camping needs as well as food and drink. There will be some vendors at Harmony park but it is suggested that you also bring some of your own food as well. If you would like to prepare we can send you an electronic version of The Book of Bana Kuma for $20. This book includes background and wisdom of all the archetypes, their stories, songs and notation for drums, Mbira, Guitar, Keyboard and Ukulele. The $20 for the book may also be deposited into paypal and you may leave us a message there specifying that you would like a book as well as the e-mail you would like the book send to. For any further questions please contact us at banafest@gmail. Sah! Chris Berry
