Campaign for Americas Future Election night was a debacle. - TopicsExpress

Campaign for Americas Future Election night was a debacle. Perversely, the Republican scorched-earth obstruction worked. But is that the whole story? In Arkansas, voters raised the minimum wage while electing a senator who opposed it. Coloradans defeated an anti-woman “personhood” amendment but elected a man who once supported it. The Republicans turned out the oldest and whitest, also known as their base. They stoked fear of Ebola and a fictional immigrant invasion. They ran commercials about beheadings and sputtered half truths about health care reform, the economy and President Obama. So what now? Do we whine and whimper? Or do we fight? Republicans know exactly what they are going to do on the first day of the new session. Do we? They will come with a smile, “ready to govern” and demand changes Americans overwhelmingly do not support. They will insist the President sign off on giveaways to global corporations, approve subsidies for big oil, accept cuts to Social Security and roll back Wall Street regulation. Americans do not want any of this. Are you ready to fight? We are. Join us. When the obstructionists assert a mandate to raise the retirement age, cut benefits to the poor and further impoverish our schools, we will be there to say: “Hell, no.” Will you make a commitment to stand with us and make a $10, $20 or $100 dollar donation? Don’t agonize, mobilize. Robert Borosage
