Campaigning intensity has ramped up as we head towards Election - TopicsExpress

Campaigning intensity has ramped up as we head towards Election Day - less than a week and half to reinforce Nationals aspirations for New Zealand and our positive, pragmatic plan. The Ōhāriu Meet the Candidates meetings are in full flight. We have had eight meetings in the electorate to date, with two remaining (Ngaio tonight and Khandallah nest Tuesday evening.) I was also invited to speak to the Multi-Cultural Council earlier this week. Each is an opportunity to remind voters and community leaders that under National New Zealand is headed in the right direction. The economy is performing strongly and our social services have improved, both in the publics perception of quality and in efficiency. Each is an opportunity to reinforce that we have a sound plan to continue to grow jobs and incomes and to continue to improve our social services, whereas our opponents propose a return to the past with five new and higher taxes and rampant Government spending. Their plan will raise the cost of living, stifle jobs and growth. Last night the Prime Minister referred to the Capital Gains Tax as a dog of a policy. People in Ōhāriu are telling me the same thing - they are not falling for outlandish claims by the opposition. They know that when you tax productive investments and property investment the same that you do not create motivation to change investment behaviour. One and half weeks remain to get our message out to as many voters as possible. We are working hard in Ōhāriu and will continue right up until Election Day. #TeamKey is #Working4NZ
