Can I draw your attention to the following article that was published in the Galway Independent last week.. The inaccuracies astound me to be honest. And not the inaccuracies of the Galway Independent I hasten to add.. They are only printing what the H.S.E has told them.. It states that the H.S.E have unveiled a new three phase plan for the closure of the acute beds in St Brigids, but yet on the newsletter Vision for Change Project 2013/2014 (published by the H.S.E.) has outlined four phases.. So which is it lads??? Three or four??.. Dr. Amanda Burke is quoted in the article as saying that the approach allows for a continued move from the old model of institutional care.. Aargh!!!!! I feel like screaming.. East Galway is not working within the old model and hasnt been for a long number of years.. The old institution of St. Brigids has long since been closed and the mental health services have been working from a recovery model of care for the longest of times.. The article also states that the H.S.E West plans to redeploy staff from St Brigids to community based teams... All LIES.. Staff will be redeployed to the Acute Units in both Roscommon and Galway city as they are chronically understaffed.. Anyway see what ye think yourselves.. galwayindependent/20131106/news/hse-outlines-plans-for-brigids-closure-S27125.html#.UnvY5KC27_I.gmail
