Can I get a collective, Cluck, yeah?! Yes! We got a unanimous vote of approval (with conditions) from the Planning Commission, despite the recommendation of the Planning Department to deny the request. Here are the conditions cited, none of which Hens in Jax is opposed to... 1. Implement a nominal permit process that would allow for consent (on complaint only) for a notified meeting with code enforcement. 2. Requirement of a 5 ft setback from the property line for any backyard coops. 3. Mr Huxford actually mentioned these zoning categories were inadvertantly left out and should be included in the ordinance - RLD100A and RLD80. Wed also like to give a huge shout out to Michael A. Davis, a poultry expert from the Baker County Agricultural Extension. His professional testimony went a long way! This vote in support would not have been possible without these individuals who took time out of their busy days to show up and stay at a 3 hour Planning Commission meeting! Shannon Tinsley Marc Banghart Dennis Glasscock Barry Hagan Kristy Kerce Genora Crain-Orth Michael Davis Lauren Trad Candice LeCompte Crissie Cudd Rob Davis Kathy Watrel Katie Watrel Annakay Hines Cornel Oliver Jonathan Oliff (RAP Board President Ill add, who was there neutrally but spoke in support of the ordinance, with the conditions the Planning Commission mentioned above) Leigh Murphy Wed also like to thank Councilman Carter and Councilman Redman, the ordinance sponsors who spoke out in support, and Rebekah Hagan and Scott Wilson, their respective aides for being there in support. And lastly, Lisa King, a great big virtual smooch to you from all of us! We so appreciate your direct and spot on observations!
