Can I get sappy for a second? Just over a week back to school and my kiddo is fired up about reading again! He hit a slump towards the end of the summer and solo reading was beginning to be more of a “chore” to him than an activity he looked forward to anymore. He liked me reading to him, but the second I suggested he read independently for a bit, I would get the eye roll and the groan. Now hes excited about reading again and wants more and more books! :) Thank you Douglas for putting a smile on my boys face while his nose is in a book. I missed that sight. Saturday morning reading has now won his heart again over Saturday morning cartoons. Telling him it’s time for bed and getting the response, “Can I please just finish this chapter?” LOVE IT!! Dropping him off Thursday, he saw Mrs. Savage in the hall and ran up for a big hug, then as we walked away he said, Its okay to still love her even though shes not my teacher this year right? I dont just have to love the teacher I have, I can love them all? Yes, of course you can. I love them all too. We had a wonderful summer, but I am so glad for the new school year. You are all sorcerers of wonder and excitement for my son. I don’t know what kind of magic education pixy dust you’re sprinkling, but keep it comin! Thank you Douglas! I appreciate you.
