As much as it reminds me of the magician that reveals his tricks, I gotta say...Promoters, Booking Agents, Industry Middlemen...for the most part are completely greedy & useless. Were in the Do-It-Yourself era of art, theres enough information & experience out there for artists, that you can run your own events, gallery showings, fashion shows, showcases, release parties & tours. If you educate yourself and study the markets; if you invest in yourself and put in Hard Work; you can achieve your Promotion & Sales goals on your own. It pains me to see musicians, comedians & other entertainers struggle to make ends meet, while agents & other business-people, get fat off collecting %s, rarely leaving their desk. THAT BEING SAID...there is a rare & dying breed in showbiz, who put the Art, Artists, & Fans first. There are a precious few who understand both the artistry and the markets, and who are dedicated to keep learning. They will invest TIME, MONEY and EFFORT in you, because they Believe as Strongly as you do. They know the connection between the ARTIST & their FANS is what matters most; and when we foster & nurture that, the business takes care of itself.
