Can I tell you a secret? I use to obsess over pleasing God. Hours of... Bible reading. Relentless fasting. Endless worshipping. Weekly church attending. Donation giving. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅ All because I wanted to please God, to glorify Him. His Kingdom come. His will be done. ============================== At the time, I saw God as this person obsessed with Himself... and I was cool with it. Why? I thought it was the right way, because thats what I was taught in church (i.e. Sunday school, VBS, summer camps, youth conferences, etc.) and of course, I wanted God to like me. ============================== Then, it happened... I begin comparing God to my Dad. ============================== My Dad is the kindest human Ive ever met (see my Fathers Day post a few weeks back). Further, hes never threatened to harm me, or refuse to protect me... if I didnt give him all the glory or make my life 100% about him all the time. Why? Well... the answer is obvious, he loves me without condition and love doesnt make it all about oneself. ============================== So, I began to question...dig deeper (and while Im still learning & discovering) my confidence lies in the truth. God is better than my Dad. Hes interested in me and wants to be my partner/encourager/helper not my dictator. And, He wants to do the SAME FOR YOU. ============================== Religion is ruthless. Jesus is kindness. Happy Sunday :)
