Can Jinn Enter Human Bodies? In our creed, as Muslims, we believe in the existence of jinn, as they are frequently mentioned in the Qur’an and the Sunnah. The Qur’an and Sunnah indicate that jinn exist, and that there is a purpose for their existence in this life, which is to worship Allah Alone with no partner or associate. Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an, {And I (Allah) created not the jinn and humans, except they should worship Me (Alone).} (Adh-Dhariyat 51: 56) Jinn are a kind of being that we cannot see as they are in reality. Allah Almighty says about Satan, {Lo! He sees you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not.} (Al-A`raf 7: 27) However, a Muslim should believe that no one, whether a jinn or human, can harm him or her without Allah’s will. According to Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ash`ari, there are two different views on whether jinn can enter human bodies or not. Some say that jinn cannot enter into human bodies while others see it possible. Each party has its own proofs. I advise my dear brothers and sisters not to preoccupy their minds with thinking on such debatable issues. Let’s focus on work and spare no efforts to bring ourselves closer to Allah. Jinn are an undeniable fact, yet this does not mean whenever we face any problem or fall ill we think that it should necessarily be because of jinn. One should search for the real reasons behind any problem or illness. Moreover, a Muslim should seek Allah’s protection against all evils and harmful beings. There are many du`aa’s in the Qur’an and the Sunnah that a Muslim is recommended to recite to protect himself or herself against evils of jinn and humans. A Muslim, for instance, is recommended to read the last two surahs of the Qur’an (surat al-Falaq and surat an-Nas) three times every day and night. In addition, one may recite ayat al-Kursi (verse no. 255 of surat al-Baqarah). In addition, a Muslim has to seek a medical treatment at the hands of medical experts or physicians when he or she falls ill.
